A spring clean
We hired a rug doctor this month to clean our carpets and if you knew me in real life you’d know how out of character this is - I was just feeling very energised to kickstart this new season with a little spring cleaning in our apartment. We also got some new shelves for our living room so we could put some books up and it feels so nice to have refreshed our home a little.
The Celebrants by Steven Rowley
I adored this book. A beautiful exploration of friendship and finding our place in the world - this novel follows five friends who host living funerals for each other whenever they need it most.
I’ve never read an Emma Lord book that I didn’t love and her latest didn’t disappoint. This one follows Riley as she moves to New York after her high school graduated, reconnects with her childhood best friend, and explores the city with a new group of friends.
Good Inside: A Guide to Becoming the Parent You Want to Be by Dr Becky Kennedy
I’ve had this on my bedside table for a while now and finally got stuck in and I’ve found it so supportive in this season of parenthood. I love Dr Becky’s perspective on connection over correction and I love how specific and easy to digest this book is.
Deeper Well by Kacey Musgraves
There was no doubt in my mind that I’d be listening to this album on repeat once it was released this month - I have tickets to see Kacey live for the second time in May and I’m already counting down the days.
My daily three-things list
One of my go-to habits when I feel stuck or in a funk and like I’m not being very intentional with my life minutes is a simple habit of asking myself: what are three things that I want to do today?
Often it’s as simple as: go for a walk, read my book, bake brownies with my son. Just writing them down gets me out of my funk and into more intention in my days and I’ve relied on this habit a lot this month and it hasn’t failed me yet.
Nicole Antoinette on Off The Grid Podcast
I’ve listened to this episode multiple times now - Off The Grid is fast becoming my favourite small business podcast and I just love this honest conversation with Amelia and Nicole about defining enough in our business.
Greys Anatomy is back 📺
20 seasons later and I’m still so excited for a brand new season to air. Any fellow Grey’s Anatomy fans here? 🙋🏻♀️
I have not been loving my hair recently. I’m in desperate need of a cut (all booked in for this weekend and I can’t wait!) and my hair was just feeling so lifeless and oily recently so I popped into Lush and picked up their sea salt shampoo bar and it’s SO GOOD. If you have thick-ish hair that can get oily at the roots but dry at the ends and want a boost of texture and volume I really recommend checking this one out.
What Relationships Would You Want If You Believed They Were Possible? on The Ezra Klein Show
I sent this episode to my oldest friend straight after listening to it as it felt so true to the conversations we’ve been having recently about the ways we want to continue to prioritise friendship at the centre of our lives. I really recommend a listen if you’re also exploring the ways you want to prioritise meaningful friendships and found family as you move through adulthood.
What’s brought you joy in March?
Until next time,
Jen
