A gentle manifesto for feel-good marketing
Number one: It’s not your job to persuade someone to buy from you

Pre-S: I’m hosting a workshop! It’s called Revitalise Your Marketing and it’s here to help you get unstuck and breathe some fresh life into your marketing plan in a way that feels easeful, aligned, and joyful to you. And it’s more than just a workshop, it also includes co-working and a follow-up office hour and extra resources to support you in creating a marketing plan for your business in this season that feels like a hell yes to you.
1. It’s not your job to persuade someone to buy from you
It’s your job just to make it easy for your hell yes people to discover your work, connect with what you do, and say hell yes to your offerings when the time is right for you. Selling doesn’t have to feel sleazy but instead just like a beautiful invitation.
2. You’re allowed to opt-out of anything ‘strategic’ if it doesn’t feel aligned for you
You don’t have to do live webinars to sell your course, or create an evergreen funnel, or run Facebook ads, or get on Linkedin , or whatever else the ‘experts’ in your industry are making you feel like you have to do. If something doesn’t feel aligned for you, if it will make you miserable to pour your energy into, then it’s not truly here to serve and support you in your business.
3. Your hell yes people don’t want you to be perfect, they want you to be real
Your humanness is what makes you special. It’s not your job to be the perfect brand and never skip a piece of content or share messy middle behind the scenes or do everything perfectly every single time. Your hell yes people want to feel connected to the person behind the brand, to the human they are trusting to guide, teach, or show up for them in whatever way your business offers.
4. Depth, not width is where the magic truly happens
It’s not our job to be a hell yes to everyone and trying to appeal to the masses just dilutes our magic. This is why I believe in focusing on reaching 100 hell yes people at a time in our business, instead of chasing more, more, more growth.
I also really recommend this episode on the Off The Grid podcast all about resonance over reach.
5. Your story is also where the magic truly happens too
Anyone can regurgitate information, but only you can share your unique perspective, stories, and ideas. Within your own comfort levels and respecting your own privacy, sharing more of your story and the why behind what you do and why you do it the way you do is always where a special kind of magic flows in our marketing I’ve found.
6. You’re allowed to take a break
From your podcast, your newsletter, your Instagram, your YouTube channel, wherever you’re showing up and sharing your magic with the world: you’re not a robot who is stuck to a posting schedule for life. You’re allowed to want to take a step back, recharge your tank, and come back refreshed when the time is right for you.
7. Intentional experimentation is how we get to the good stuff
No one actually has all the secrets for how exactly you can reach your goals in your business. Marketing is one big experiment to see what flows, to see what feels good, to see what resonates and finds momentum too. Experimenting with intention is the only way to get the insight and data we need to see what moves the needle in our business. Don’t wait to have the perfect strategy or answers - they don’t exist.
8. Keep it simple: sow seeds & put your lights on
Whenever I feel overwhelmed with marketing I remind myself that I have two jobs: to sow seeds to make it easy for my hell yes people to dive deeper into my work and connect with what I do, and put my lights on so that they can say hell yes to my offerings when the time is right for them.
9. Honing your voice is more meaningful than honing how to hack growth
I’ve been fully booked for a decade now in my business and gently thriving in my work and I truly believe that building the muscle of sharing my voice, my ideas, my stories, and my perspective is why. I’ve never focused on hacking growth or reaching a massive audience but instead showing up, being of service, and sowing seeds to make it easy for my hell yes people to connect with what I do.
10. Your evolution is never-ending and that’s a beautiful thing
Our marketing plan is never set in stone for life. We experiment, find our flow, and then evolve whenever our intuition guides us to, too. As you evolve and grow your business and marketing plan gets to evolve and grow alongside you too.
And a bonus one: Nothing is worth doing if it burns you out to do so
Even if it moves the needle, if it burns you out to pursue that type of momentum and growth we have to find a better, calmer, and more sustainable way to steer the ship that is our business if we want to stay in the arena for many more years to come.
And if you’d love deeper guidance and support on reshaping, reseting, and revitalising your marketing plan in this season in a way that feels good to you I would be over the moon to welcome you to my new workshop. You can find out more and save your spot this way.
Here’s to marketing in a way that feels simple, human, and energetically sustainable too.
Until next time,
Jen

I'm just dipping my toe back into promotion for my work after a long break, and this resonated deeply with me, especially the reminder to focus on sowing seeds and finding "hell yes!" people. Bookmarking this for future encouragement!!
