How I’m supporting my nervous system through my current launch
Because my number one job when launching? Holding my nerve...
Launching is a lot, right?
There’s rarely a time when we’re taking up as much space in our business as we do when we’re putting our lights on for an enrolment period for one of our offers.
I’m currently a couple of days into early-bird enrolment for my flagship group program, Your Simple & Spacious Business, and as I prepare for the main enrolment to start on Monday I am really holding my nervous system through the energetic exchange that this type of launch asks of me in my work.
And my number one job through this launch, in so many ways, is just to hold my nerve: to show up, to follow through on my plan, to put my lights on and make it easy for the people this program is a hell yes for right now to come inside and join us.
Because even after all of these years and all of the launches I’ve done so far in my business it still can be so deeply nervous system activating for me to take up this space and enter into the unknown of what the outcome of this launch will be.
So here’s how I’m supporting myself and my nervous system as I embark on this enrolment:
1. I’m reminding myself that it’s okay to look like I’m trying
It’s okay for business to not look effortless, for people to see us taking up space and putting our lights on for our offers.
There are so many moving pieces to an enrolment like this: the sales emails, the social media posts, the shout outs on my podcast. For the next couple of weeks I’m going to be talking a lot about the magic inside YS&SB and that’s okay, that’s exactly what I’m meant to do when I’m launching.
2. I celebrate every single sale
When the first sale came through when I opened up early-bird enrolment yesterday to the waitlist I did a little happy dance - even after all of these years it never stops feeling like the greatest privilege when someone welcomes me into their business journey through one of my offerings.
As early-bird sales continued to trickle in I took a moment to celebrate each one - my plan is to visualise every new member with post-it notes on my wall so that I can really celebrate as our community grows with some awesome new humans through this launch.
3. I’m leaning on my support system
My business besties are just a text away when I need a pep talk or to run an idea or thought by them and I lean on my husband daily too just to talk through the launch and how everything is going. Especially if I get stuck in an overthinking spiral I find it so helpful to process it with my business besties so that I can find calm and focus again instead of spiralling too far.
4. I’m bearing witness to the magic of this offer
I love this program - I think it may be the best and most impactful offer I’ve ever brought to life in my business.
Staying rooted in how awesome I know that this program is and how much I believe in this offer and see how supportive this program is each day for the members already inside is the fuel that will empower me to keep showing up through this launch and putting my lights on until the cart closes.
5. I’m staying curious and open to the possibilities of this launch
This is my fourth enrolment of YS&SB since I first opened the doors in April 2022 - the first two launches went really well and then the third enrolment was a little slower so I’ve already seen what is possible when I launch this program and I’ve navigated a slightly-nervous-system-activating slower launch too.
A little optimism goes a long way I’ve found - I have to believe that my launch goals can be possible for me if I’m then actually going to feel empowered enough to show up and do the work to try and make them possible. And then I also have to trust that I will be able to navigate whatever the outcome of the launch is on the other side too, whether I reach my goals or not.
6. I’m pausing the spiral when I get stuck
Hands up if you’ve ever obsessively checked your inbox during a launch to see if another sale has come through?
Yeah, me too 🙋🏻♀️
But it doesn’t do my nervous system any good to get into this type of obsessive spiral so I find when I do I have to pause the spiral and get back into just living my life and then I can just be delighted when I see that a new human has decided to join us inside YS&SB instead.
7. I’m reminding myself that I’m giving this launch my current version of 100%
For the first two launches of YS&SB I really put a lot of time and energy into pre-marketing and sowing seeds for the launch and the results of each enrolment reflected that.
Whereas for the third enrolment I had less capacity to pour into pre-marketing and the enrolment period and the slower launch reflected that too - and that’s okay as that’s all I had the capacity for and some awesome humans still joined us inside through that launch window.
For this enrolment I know that I’m giving it my version of 100% right now and that’s what I have to trust as I continue to show up for this launch.
8. And finally, I’m trusting my plan
I know what I’m doing for this launch - I have a plan and all I have to do now is just follow through on it and tweak and evolve it if and when my business inner compass guides me to along the way. I can still show up for this launch even if my nervous system is activated at times along the way - it’s just my job to support myself every step of the way too.
And more than anything? We have to surrender to what is out of our control.
All we can do is show up, put our lights on, share the magic of our offer, connect with our audience and invite them into our containers, but the rest is up to them.
But our launch goals will never be possible for us if we just stand on the sidelines waiting for guarantees that aren’t coming so we have to brave enough to get stuck in and see what’s possible along the way.
If you have a launch coming up I hope that this can share some of the ways you can support yourself through your nervous system being activated in the process - and also just normalise that it’s okay for launches to feel like a big energetic exchange too.
And no matter the outcome of your next launch, whether it’s a roaring success or it’s met with crickets, it will always teach you something valuable in your business that you can build on for more growth to come.
How do you support your nervous system through the rollercoaster of launching in your business?
Until next time,
Jen xo
Thank you for these reminders, Jen! So useful to see these at the moment while I'm figuring out what my paid subscriber content is going to look like here on Substack. I've had the paid option turned on from the beginning (partly so I didn't have to decide when to turn it on 🙈 and partly so that people always had the option to support me in that way if they choose to) but I'm planning to set out some more concrete plans for Haver & Sparrow when I hit the six month mark in August. 💫 I'm really excited for what's to come and love the community that's growing around my work but I so relate to what you're saying here about needing to believe in what you have to offere and to hold your nerve what sharing it with people! Have saved this post and will come back to it again when I get closer to that stage. Thanks again, hope you're having a lovely weekend! 💗
Thank you for these insights Jen, I'm contemplating a launch and it hadn't even occurred to me yet to think about how to look after my nervous system during that period - and now I will! Thank you x
