From my camera roll: December 2023
I’ve been on a romance fiction kick this month and loved this one - Audrey is about to marry Josh when her one that got away turns up at their rehearsal dinner. What comes next is Audrey figuring out if this is fate intervening or if she truly does want to marry Josh - if you love a fun, well written, page-turning romance book I really recommend this one.
This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens
Before I Do kickstarted my love of books by Sophie Cousens so I picked this one up from the library next and may have loved it even more than Before I Do. There’s also a film adaptation of this one coming out next year which I’m now very excited for!
Meet Me Under The Mistletoe by Jenny Bayliss
Oh I loved this book. This was the perfect festive romance read in the lead up to the holiday season and I’m now very excited to read the rest of Jenny Bayliss’s books. A holiday reunion of a group of school friends for a wedding, this is also a great option if you love a low-steam romance read.
The Christmas Orphans Club by Becca Freeman
I think this is my favourite read of the month - it’s positioned as a holiday rom com but really it’s a story about friendship, the family we find and build along the way, and how to navigate friendship as we grow up without growing apart.
I think I may have enjoyed this show even more the second time around and I feel a little lost now without it as my evening viewing.
Co-hosted by Becca Freeman who wrote The Christmas Orphans Club, this has fast become my new favourite podcast and I’ve been listening my way through the archives - I really recommend it for fellow book lovers.
Another one for book lovers, Michelle’s Substack is one of my favourites and I’m always so excited when a new post from her arrives in my feed.
I was SO excited when I came across this app. I use GoodReads to track my reading but fell in love with Italic Type as soon as I saw it - it’s so much cleaner and so beautifully designed that I signed up straight away.
Elise Cripe on The Tiffany Han Show
I’ve been using the Get To Work Book in my business for years now so I was a little heartbroken when its founder, Elise Cripe, announced that they were shutting the business down. This interview was such a fascinating and vulnerable behind the scenes into her business journey, why she’s closing down the business, and how she made this decision too.
Decluttering & Finding Freedom in 2024 by Elin Lesser
I’m always so excited whenever I see a new video from Elin in my feed and loved her perspective in this video for embracing minimalism and the freedom that comes with owning less next year.
What’s brought you joy in December?
Until next time,
Jen
Thank you for this round up. So many gems!!!
I just read The Good Part by Sophie Cousens in a single day. Loved it!
